A Eulogy for Psychoanalysis (2012)

societyThis was one of the eulogies delivered over the coffin of the talking cure at an event at Cabinet in Brooklyn, which marked the publication of Jamieson Webster's book, The Life and Death of Psychoanalysis. Following the eulogies, we processed to the Gowanus canal, where the corpse was ignominiously disposed of.

Park St Cemetery, Calcutta
Tucked away behind a bustling Calcutta street is this cemetary, containing the graves of hundreds of British colonists from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Many died very young, from malaria and waterborne diseases. The grief evident in many of the inscriptions is palpable.
