The Three Principles and Eight Attentions

Hari Kunzru's novels are The Impressionist, Transmission, My Revolutions and Gods Without Men. There are certain ground rules for fiction writing:

The Three Principles: 1. All actions obey orders 2. Never take things from the people, even one needle or thread 3. Everything captured should be handed to leadership.

The Eight Attentions: 1. Talk politely 2. Buy and sell fairly 3. Return what you borrowed 4. Pay for things you damage 5. No beating and scolding 6. Do not destroy crops 7. Do not play with girls 8. Do not bully the captured.
